Spring-Summer 2022 collection

"This collection is a loving tribute to my great-great Aunt, named “Africa Llamas”, one of the first women pilots to “sail through the skies” in 1931. Her boldness and bravery inspire me now more than ever, and the vibrant color palette is a tribute to her and all the places she visited or would have loved to land. "
From the draping and seams of a parachute, to aviator straps, belts, hats and tool pockets, Alejandra adapted these details in a sophisticated and modern way for her Spring 2022 collection. A coral reversible aviator merino shearling jacket named after her Aunt Africa is the perfect example, as well as a hand dyed parachute gown with adjustable length on it’s train.
Shibori, an ancient Japanese dyeing technique is used in the collection, with stones and ropes to create a white circular pattern on silk in bold colors like yellow, red, blue and green. Degrade color shades, a signature for Alejandra, are hand dyed on some of the most special pieces such as a parachute gown with red bleeding into coral as well as a green to blue hand crocheted gown.
Suedes and leather pieces are connected with crocheted silk yarn, adding lightness to an indigo blue midi dress or a kelly green mini skirt.
Modern, feminine and timeless styles like satin suits, silk blouses and silk and crochet dresses paired with lofty knitwear with cables and fringes add dimension to the collection. Hand knit bralettes and bodysuits incorporate a sexy and feminine edge, taking the Alejandra Alonso Rojas woman easily from day to night.
Alejandra worked closely with jewelry designer Monica Sordó for a special collaboration this season. Driven by their mutual fascination of flowy silhouettes and bold and monumental metal structures, the designers embarked on an exploration to create this season's accessories details. As a starting point for their collaboration, they studied Monica’s core collection, “Cuabagua" and developed a series of silver buckles, straps and clasps to adorn both ready to wear and leather goods. The center piece, the "PENINSULA BELT”, has a stupendous buckle with interchangeable color straps in this season's bold color palette. Incredibly versatile, it can be styled as a belt, or as a princess or rope necklace with an adjustable chain. All pieces are handcrafted in silver plated brass by Peruvian artisans and jewelry masters at Monica's Fair-Trade atelier in Lima, where by merging innovative designs with ancestral crafting techniques, ancient traditions confer new values of rarity and beauty.
The Alejandra Alonso Rojas Spring 2022 collection is evocative and represents casual luxury from every angle. For Alejandra craftsmanship continues to be the ultimate luxury.
