How can we empower people of color sustainably?
We first need to create a culture of equity so that no one people group has the power to empower or disempower people of color. Next, I would say to create a zero-tolerance climate around racism and to make anti-racist training a priority so that it's woven into the very fabric of society and company culture.
What do you take accountability for, and why?
I take accountability for my actions and intentions. It is important for me to hold myself accountable for how I treat others and make them feel because I think that is one of the most powerful things that we can control as individuals — how you make someone else feel after interacting with them. I also hold myself accountable for my intentions to make sure they are pure. When my intentions are pure I'm at peace with everything I do.
What is the promise you make with yourself?
The one promise that I make with myself is to stay authentic. No matter how much the world changes, I promise myself to stay true to who I am and show up in my authenticity daily. Whether it's popular or not, likable or not, trending or not — I will be authentic to who I am.
